About The Jupiter Hotel
The Jupiter Hotel is the brainchild of developers Tod Breslau and Kelsey Bunker. Established in 2004, the Jupiter is Portland’s first cultural boutique motel turned hotel in what was a seedy 1960’s motor lodge on the edge of downtown. After identifying the property, it’s proximity to the convention center, the downtown entertainment district and the Willamette River, the developers decided it would make the perfect Hotel, Nightclub, and social gathering place with affordable rates, and exciting events.
Enlisting the creative force of Jeff Kovel and Skylab Design, the Jupiter Partners created a light filled property, transforming parking areas to bamboo laden courtyards, adding an evening glow with a large fireplace patio, and creating modern, crisp guestrooms that attracts an international array of design savvy travelers and urban nomads.
With 81 contemporary and affordable guestrooms, as well as amenities such asMP3 device platforms, and WiFi access, the Jupiter is a destination for travelers looking for a unique experience in urban hospitality. Under the management of veteran hospitality icon Al Munguia, the Jupiter has received national recognition for the hotel’s transformation. The Jupiter has been featured in Elle Décor Magazine, Travel + Leisure, The New York Times travel section, Food and Wine’s “Go List" of the best restaurants and hotels in the world and Condé Nast Traveler’s annual “Hot List” of the world’s best new hotels. GQ chose the Jupiter as one of 4 best “new-old hotels” in its September 2005 issue. The Jupiter Hotel also received the Portland Business Alliance’s Top Ten Growth Awards in 2006. The world-renowned Doug Fir Restaurant and Lounge is open daily until 2 a.m. and offers cutting-edge musical acts every night in its world-class nightclub.
